JP Maurice - The Matador

The Matador is the latest single to come from Vancouver singer-songwriter JP Maurice. With an opening hook that is guaranteed to get stuck in your head, the song propels forward with pop sensibilities notably featuring the layering of Maurice’s vocal melodies alongside echoey synths. Lyrical tones expressing the hardships of pursuing a lover are emboldened and given energy by the steady pulse of the song. Featuring Elias Mallin (Kesha, Noah Cyrus) on drums, the track was co-produced by both Maurice and Ted Gowans (The Rentals, Tegan and Sara, Kesha) and mastered by Joao Carvalho. Released on Smol Dog Records, The Matador is the first single from Maurice’s album Pressure Makes Diamonds coming out in the fall of 2021.
